It will be a test of who is the True Blue, when the Alumni teams of the past two Jamaica Manning Cup winners clash at the 5th Annual soccer match for the Dennis Ziadie Cup on Saturday, April 18th, 2009 at the Central Broward Regional Park, in Lauderhill.
The Jamaica College Old Boys Association of Florida and the St. George's College Old Boys Association of Florida will meet at 2:00 pm, where they will battle to the finish to see who will cop the top spot of the competition celebrating the memory of Dennis Ziadie, who coached both schools to Manning Cup victories.
This year will mark the 23rd year of the death of Dennis Ziadie in a car crash in Mexico at the 1986 World Cup.
“Dennis Ziadie has been an inspiration to me. As a member of Jamaica College's Manning Cup teams 1970 through 1973, I experienced the great wisdom and vision of Dennis as a coach”, said JCOBAFL president, Ray E. G. Stephenson. “It brings me great joy each year to see this event grow and I am proud that we continue to pay tribute to this great man.”
Saturday's festivities will also feature a Calabar and Cornwall College match-up. |
