PARIS, France – Eurosport has named Jamaica’s super sprinter Usain Bolt
its 2008 Sports Personality of the Year for his dazzling victories at
the Beijing Olympics in August.
Bolt stories are continuing to flood the international media as they
did in August, as the sports world acclaims his majestic gold medal
sprinting in Beijing Olympics as the most compelling performances of
the year.
The Eurosport-Yahoo web site conducted a poll among journalists,
commentators, and pundits to give their top three sports personalities,
based on achievements over the past 12 months, and the 22-year-old
Caribbean giant easily topped the votes.
Bolt, who smashed world records in the 100 and 200 meters in Beijing
and also helped propel the Jamaica sprint relay team to world record
gold, almost tripled his nearest rival – Michael Phelps – with a tally
of 126 points in the poll.
The scoring system awarded 10 points if placed first, seven points for second and five for third.

LONDON, CMC – Top British sprinter Dwain Chambers intends to find the crack in Usain Bolt’s armour and cut him down to size.
Chambers, back in the British track & field fold following a ban
for using performance enhancing drugs, is savouring the thought of
taking a crack at the Jamaican sprint sensation next season.
“I'm a competitor who loves a tough challenge and I'll relish the
opportunity to race against Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell next year,” he
said in an interview with Sky Sports.
“I'm particularly looking forward to competing against Bolt because I
trained with him two years ago, so with that in mind I want to know
what it feels like to run against a guy who can now run 9.69.

After the Dolphins lost their first two games in the 2008 football
season to the New York Jets and the Arizona cardinals, most Dolphin
fans exclaimed, “No, not again. Not another losing season to follow
2007’s 1-15 record!” But something happened within the Dolphins camp
and in their next game against the New England Patriots, unleashed the
tricky “Wild Cat” offense, and soundly and surprisingly defeated the
Patriots. This game made believers of some fans, especially the way
quarterback Chad Pennington managed that game.
Following that game, the team continued to score wins, although losing
to Houston, Baltimore and the same Patriots. But, they improved as the
season progressed, winning nine of their last 10 games, culminating in
their 24-17 win against the New York Jets in the Jets home, winning the
AFC East Division for the first time since 2000, and make it to the
playoffs the first time since 2001.
Last Sunday’s game was billed as the showdown between Pennington and
Jet’s quarterback Brett Favre, especially with Pennington returning to
play at the Meadowlands where he led the Jets for eight seasons before
being discarded for Favre.
Although Pennington had an unusual fumble and turnover in the game he
outdid Frave by completing 73 percent of his passes for 200 yards and 2
touchdowns. Favre completed 20 of 40 passes for 233 yards with one TD
and 3 interceptions.
