KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaican sprint sensation Usain Bolt will miss the
IAAF Area Permit Meet this weekend, despite escaping serious injury in
a car crash here Wednesday.
A release on Thursday said the 22-year old would be unavailable for the event scheduled for the National Stadium in Kingston.
Bolt was treated for abrasions to his feet at the Spanish Town hospital
after his 2009 BMW M3 Coupe, a gift given to him by his sponsors at
Puma after his stunning performances at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, ran
off the road on Highway 2000, just outside the capital.

With 13 regular season games left, newcomers Ft. Lauderdale rebels have
assured themselves of at least a second place finish in the CASA Super
League. With two games to play on their schedule the Rebels could
finish the season with a perfect record of 11-0.
To continue their dominance on Wednesday the Rebels took on the fourth
place BC United and in a match filled with drama they emerged with a
3-2 win.
BC United started the game knowing that a win would put them in the
playoffs, except they were playing against a team that has had eight
straight wins in the league and seem to be getting stronger with every
game. However it was BC United that had most of the early play. And it
was no surprise when in the 10th minute they took the lead through Dane
Fairweather from a Patrick Satahoo cross. They held on to the lead
until just before the half when it all started to go wrong.

Chris Gayle and Fidel Edwards will definitely be playing in the
lucrative Indian Premier League which will be staged later this month
in South Africa.
But Chairman of the West Indies selectors Clyde Butts indicated on
Monday that Gayle and Edwards will link up with the Caribbean side on
the tour of England, following brief stints with the their franchises
in the IPL.
“We have named 17 players because we have got a couple of our players
going off to play in the IPL,” said Butts when he announced the squad.
“Gayle and Edwards will travel to the IPL and will join the squad just
before the first Test.”
There were concerns that the best players would not have been available
for the tour, after some of them – including Gayle and Edwards – signed
deals to appear in the IPL.
