Star player Russell Latapy has been appointed Trinidad and Tobago’s
football head coach following the resignation of Colombian Francisco
Maturana on Wednesday.
Maturana quit on the back of T&T’s poor results so far in World Cup
qualifying which has seen the twin-island republic go winless in three
outings.
The Soca Warriors have secured a mere two points from three CONCACAF
qualifiers in a dismal bid so far to qualify for the 2010 World Cup
Finals in South Africa.
“The technical coaching staff, led by Mr. Francisco Maturana, has
offered their resignations to the Executive Committee of the TTFF due
to differences in opinions regarding the way forward in the FIFA 2010
World Cup Qualification Campaign for South Africa. The resignations
were subsequently accepted by the Executive Committee of the TTFF,” the
TTFF said.

Former Miami Heat center Alonzo Mourning has become the first player in
Heat franchise history to have his number mounted in the rafters of the
American Airlines Arena.
The Miami Heat retired Mourning’s No.33, on Monday.
The 39 year old is the franchise leader in points (9,459), rebounds
(4,807) and games played (593). He also won two Defensive Player of the

one of the greatest moments of my life,” as he addressed the crowd at
halftime at a Heat game in Orlando.

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Steve Bucknor has lived his life whole life
believing in the concept of “fair play”, but he is walking away from
the game that he loves questioning if others have always applied it in
their response to situations involving him.
The 63-year-old international umpire disclosed that he plans to write
an autobiography, where he would let his feelings be known about his
journey from the humble, if not quite mean streets of Montego Bay on
the north coast of his native Jamaica to becoming the most respected
and capped international umpire.
He has been described as “a gentle giant”, but Bucknor plans to give
the World an insight of just how tough he can be, and how tough his
ride to the top has been, and will send down a few fiery deliveries
like the ones he enjoyed watching Sir Vivian Richards dispatch with
aplomb.
“I am putting bits and pieces together,” he said. “I did not want to do
it while I was still umpiring because I have a few shots to fire. I
can’t call many names, but once I fire these shots, then people will
know exactly what I am talking about.”
