The 2010 Caribbean American Soccer Association (CASA) Super League continued at the Lauderhill Sports Complex, last Saturday with a double header.
In the feature game of the night, last year’s Champions Unity FC came up against two-time Champions Western FC. In what has always been one of the biggest games on the league’s fixture. And even though it was windy and cold, the fans came out in droves and they were not disappointed, as the two teams played a very competitive game.
However, the western defense could not cope with the lighting speed of the Unity FC forwards, Romaro Francis and Terence Goldson. It was no surprise when Unity went ahead with a goal from Romaro Francis, before Trismarc Saunders added a second goal before half time to make the score 2-0.
In the second half, Unity went further ahead when Goldson scored the goal of the match, climbing above the Western defense to head home across from Cleveland Brown making the final score 3-0.
In the curtain raiser, Eagles FC were able to hold their own in the first half against Blazers FC, mainly due to a series of missed chances from Blazers who were off target. It was not until the second half that Blazers went in front with a goal from Alain Gustave. Eagles had a couple of chances to equalize, but they could not convert. Blazers went further ahead with a goal from Leonel St-Preux to cap 2-0 win.
Meanwhile, on Sunday a very young Bfut Brazil team held the more experienced Thunderbolts to 1-1 draw in their rescheduled game at the same venue. Thunderbolts took the lead through Paul Clark in the first half. Bfut equalize late in the second half with a goal from Gonzalo Arrechea for the tie.
The league continues this Saturday February 13 with Carib United against Juventus at 6:15pm and FC Internaxionale against Thunderbolts FC at 8:15pm.
