The event, billed as the ‘Cricket Night of Champions’, will kick off at the Lauderhill Sports Park, W. Oakland Park Blvd. at 5:00 pm with the effervescent sounds of the Rising Star Steel Pan Band followed by a brief opening ceremony. Trinidad & Tobago, which is making its first championship game appearance at Lauderhill Night Cricket, will have a tough challenge, trying to defeat the uncompromising six-time-defending-champion Team Jamaica. Cricket fans will converge at Lauderhill Sports Park to see what promises to be an excellent game, since the stakes are high for both teams. T&T will try to prove themselves against the defending champions and Jamaica will have to prove that they can maintain the Mayor’s Cup and winning purse from the Cricket Council USA (CCUSA), by fending off the newcomers to this championship stage. This year’s tournament was the most successful of the seven cricket seasons, enjoying record-breaking crowds each Saturday night at the Lauderhill Sports Park. Underwritten by the Cricket Council USA and the City of Lauderhill, fans have been thrilled by the high level cricket played by the teams representing: Lauderhill, Jamaica, Trinidad-&-Tobago, Guyana, Barbados, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Leeward Islands and Windard Islands.
