In a game that threatened to get out of the referee’s control, Internaxionale was able to withstand Carib’s physical approach with some clever possessional play to wrap up a playoff spot for the second year in a row with a game to spare. In the Sunday game, two teams with an eye on the playoffs themselves shared 9 goals in a thriller. Juventus FC raced out to a seemingly impregnable 5-1 lead before Unity FC’s player-coach, former Reggae Boy Hector Wright and their marksman Romaro Francis threatened to steal a point with a late 3 goal rally. Time however ran out on Unity, and Juventus held on to win 5-4, leaving both teams with a good shot at a playoff spot with 19 and 18 points respectively. Last week’s action in the CASA Super League saw FC Internaxionale becoming the second team to qualify for the playoffs in the 2009 campaign. Goals from former Jamaica youth representatives Ricardo Ximines and Horace Howell powered FC Internaxionale to a convincing 2-0 win over newcomers Carib United FC on Saturday at the Lauderhill Sports Complex. In a game that threatened to get out of the referee’s control, Internaxionale was able to withstand Carib’s physical approach with some clever possessional play to wrap up a playoff spot for the second year in a row with a game to spare.
