The Caribbean Americas Soccer Association (CASA) kicks off its exciting fifth season with an opening ceremony on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at the Lauderhill Sports Complex on West Oakland Park Blvd. The event, which promises to be bigger and better than previous years, will feature a Parade of the 12 competitive teams in the league and half time entertainment with up and coming female reggae artiste, Jules. According to CASA’s Director of Public Relations Michael Aitcheson, Lauderhill Mayor, Richard Kaplan who has been a fervent supporter of CASA, will make the kick off for the Feature game, an invitational between CASA defending champions Western FC and Reno FC defending champions from the Atlanta Champions league. Soccer enthusiasts who have enjoyed the league’s offerings and new fans of the game will witness a melting of soccer in South Florida’s landscape as they gear up for another exciting five months of excellent soccer, with the first league match on Wednesday, January 14 at 7:45 p.m. There will be no matches on Saturday January 17, due to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. birthday celebrations that weekend. League play resumes on Wednesday Jan. 21 with a 7:45 kick-off at the Lauderhill Sports Complex. The normal double headers on Saturdays will begin on January 24, with two games, the first at 6:00 p.m. at the second at 8:00 p.m.
