KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaican sprint sensation Usain Bolt will miss the IAAF Area Permit Meet this weekend, despite escaping serious injury in a car crash here Wednesday. A release on Thursday said the 22-year old would be unavailable for the event scheduled for the National Stadium in Kingston. Bolt was treated for abrasions to his feet at the Spanish Town hospital after his 2009 BMW M3 Coupe, a gift given to him by his sponsors at Puma after his stunning performances at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, ran off the road on Highway 2000, just outside the capital. According to reports, Bolt's car had been traveling to Kingston from Clarendon when the car careened off the wet road and flipped on its top. The 22 year-old escaped unscathed by the accident, but sustained scratches from thorns in the bushes when he stepped out of the car. H Bolt's manager, Norman Peart, "We are very relieved he's OK. Everybody is fine." Bolt had been traveling with two female passengers.
