nflFollowing last weekend's exciting National Football Conference (NFC) and American Football Conference (AFC) Championship semi-finals, it is now down to four teams: the New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers, Baltimore Ravens and the New England Patriots. The NFC Championship game will see the 49ers' at home versus the Giants and the AFC Championship will see the Patriots at home against the Ravens. Here is a round up of the semi final games

Giants vs. Packers

The Giants with a 9-7 regular season record on Sunday January 8, 2012 brushed aside the Atlanta Falcons 24-2 in their wild card encounter. They continued their relentless march to the NFC Championship and Super Bowl title when they destroyed defending Super Bowl Champions Green Bay Packers, a team with a 15-1 regular season record, 37-20. The victory is even more remarkable against the most feared offense line in the league, led by quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Giants' defense kept strong, preventing Rodgers and company from settling into any rhythm. Meanwhile, Giants' quarterback Eli Manning and the offensive line were efficient and at times brilliant. The Giants are the only wild card team to advance to a divisional championship.

49ers vs. Saints

The 13-3 regular season 49ers had to fight hard to overcome the New Orleans Saints 36-32, who also has a 13-3 regular season record at home. The Saints, led by quarterback Drew Brees, who this season broke ex-Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino's record for most passing yards for a regular season with 5476 passing yards, thought they were heading to the NFC Championship game when Brees connected with tight end Jimmy Graham for a 66-yard touchdown. This left one minute and 30 seconds on the clock. However, this was not to be, as 49ers' young and somewhat underrated quarterback Alex Smith marched his team up the field, first completing a game pass with tight end Vernon Davis for a 47-yard catch and a run completion. With time running out and the team needing 14 yards for a winning touchdown on third down, Davis was in the end zone with nine seconds to spare.

Ravens vs. Texans

In a battle between two of NFL's top defensive teams, the regular season 12-4 Baltimore Ravens defeated regular season 10-6 and previous weekend wild card winners Houston Texans 20-13. The Texans coming off a 31-10 wild card victory over the Cincinnati Bengals came up against the Ravens' defence, led by veteran linebacker Ray Lewis and safety Ed Reed. The Texans offensive gave up four turnovers with quarterback T. J. Yates who gave up two interceptions. The Texans were always chasing the game.

Ravens young quarterback Joe Flacco was efficient and completed 14 of his 27 passes for 176 yards and two touchdowns and most importantly, no turnovers. The Ravens kept a balanced offense with running-back Ray Rice earning 21 carries for 60 yards

Patriots vs. Broncos

The fairytale journey of the 8-8 regular season Denver Broncos came to an end when they lost to the well- oiled 13-3 regular season New England Patriots, led by quarterback Tom Brady 45 -10. Broncos' quarterback Tim Tebow, who has made a lot of fans believe that God was rooting for the Broncos after their wild card victory over the vaunted Pittsburgh Steelers, found himself chasing the game and could only complete nine of his 27 attempted passes for 136 yards. Patriots' quarterback Tom Brady tied the post-season record of six touchdown passes. Tight end Rob Gronkowski received three of these touchdown passes.
