FortLauderdaleStrikersThe Fort Lauderdale Strikers earned a thrilling come from behind draw at 3-3 against Carolina RailHawks last Wednesday May 2, at WakeMed Soccer Park in North Carolina. The Strikers earned their first point at WakeMed Soccer Park in franchise history and moved into second place in the NASL standings with nine points.

The RailHawks came out on the attack, forcing the Strikers to defend. Just before half time, Strikers found themselves behind as RailHawks striker Brian Shriver scored.

The Strikers soon found themselves further behind when Nick Zimmerman scored again for the RailHawks. The Strikers were forced to push forward and were rewarded when Lance Laing curled a powerful free kick over the wall and inside the near post from 30 yards out.

Strikers however were caught on the break as Nick Zimmerman again found himself in front of goal. His second attempt fired past goalie Matt Glaeser to restore the two goal advantage.

Showing strong fighting spirit, the strikers kept playing and, after conceding the third goal, cut the lead to within one when second half substitute Darnell King made an excellent pass to Walter Restrepo, who shot high and away from RailHawks goalkeeper Ray Burse.

Mark Anderson substituted for Darnell King and later scored the equalizer with only four minutes on the pitch. Anderson collected a pass from Walter Restrepo near the top right corner of the box and sent a curling shot over the diving hand of Burse and into the far corner of the goal to tie the match 3-3.

"The last goal was unbelievable," said Strikers head coach Daryl Shore. "We're just happy to get out of here with a point."

"We're happy for the point and that's the most important thing," said Lance Laing, who was recently called up for international duty by Jamaican Head Coach Theodore Whitmore. "Last year we came here twice and didn't get a point, but it's a new season."

Lance will be a part of the Jamaican squad selected to play against Guyana on May 18, in Jamaica.

Next regular season game will be on Saturday, May 12, against Puerto Rico Islanders at the Bayamon Soccer Complex in Puerto Rico.
