Theodore_WhitmoreJamaica’s Reggae Boyz proved worthy challengers before crashing to a 2-0 loss to World Cup host South Africa as the Bafana Bafana warmed up for next month’s FIFA World Cup at home.

Jamaica who was given short notice for the friendly literally landed and played on the same day, as there were only 11 hours separating their landing time from game time. But by all accounts, the Reggae Boyz acquitted themselves well with a spirited performance.

Playing with only local base players, it took two second half goals by Surprise Moriri (53rd minute) and Siyabonga Nomvete (85th minute) and tired legs to defeat the Reggae Boyz.

Coach Theodore Whitmore was quoted as saying "We know we got in just this morning for a game the same night, but we are not using that as an excuse because I believe that South Africa played well and I congratulate them. But I must also congratulate my players for a good game, especially the younger ones," in a post-match interview.
