kenwyneJonesEmbattled Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has admitted that the Merseyside club were in talks with Sunderland over the Trinidad and Tobago striker Kenwyne Jones.

Following reports which made the rounds last week, Benitez said Liverpool’s managing director Christian Purslow and Sunderland’s chairman Niall Quinn had discussed Jones’ sale.

If Jones goes to Liverpool, he would become the second Caribbean-born player – after Jamaican John Barnes – to play for the famous club.
