The 10th Annual Lauderhill Maq T20 International Night Cricket Tournament will get underway on Saturday, January 29, 2011, at the Lauderhill Sports Park in Lauderhill with the opening ceremony scheduled for 4:00pm prior to the games. The tournament which is sponsored by the City of Lauderhill and Cricket Council USA will run through April on Saturdays, featuring a double each evening. Mayor Richard J. Kaplan, competition originator states, "I am proud to see how this innovative International Night T-20 competition has evolved and been a catalyst of growth to the sport of cricket in the United States of America over the last 10 years. The competition has for many years been unifying the community while celebrating the contribution that cricket brings to the City of Lauderhill - the Cricket Capital of the USA." Through the endorsement of the South Florida Cricket Alliance and Florida Southeast Cricket League, the Lauderhill Maq T20 International Night Cricket Tournament has achieved the reputation as one of America's largest and most-popular night cricket tournament in the US. Last year's tournament proved to be the biggest and one of the most exciting tournaments - as pooled resources between Lauderhill and CCUSA allowed the tournament finalist to received prize monies. According to Jeff Miller, V.P. of Operations “CCUSA will continue to support and raise the profile of cricket within the City of Lauderhill and we look forward to another exciting and entertaining tournament. We will use our resources to promote cricket’s fast growing T20 format, through our widely influential domestic and international network of cricket enthusiasts.”
