cricket_bat_and_ballFormer West Indies youth player and USA National Representative Raymond Denny scored a brilliant 61 not out off 48 deliveries (9x4, 1x6) to end the losing streak of Barbados, who registered their first victory in the 9th Annual Maq T20 Lauderhill International Night Cricket Tournament.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, Guyana posted a modest 132 runs in the 11th round of the tournament at the Lauderhill Sports Complex. Batting for the Guyanese, Nasim Ali slammed 46 with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Andrew Premaul chipped in with 32 hitting 5 fours and 1 six, while Masood Mohamed carried his bat for 29 with 3 fours and 1 six. Bowling for the Barbados, Micton Wallace took 2 for 19, Steven Braithwaite 2 for 30 and Justin Holder 2 for 35.

Barbados in reply in front of a huge cheering section of enthusiastic Bajan supporters, scored 132 for 2 to defeat Guyana by 8 wickets. After losing two early wickets, Denny was joined by former USA National Representative John Willoughby and the two shared in an unbeaten fourth wicket partnership of 119 to guild the Bajans to their first victory of the tournament. Willoughby contributed an elegant 55 with 4 fours and 5 sixes. Bowling for Guyana, Nasim Ali bagged 1 for 27 and Avinash Rampersaud 1 for 40.

Sri Lanka defeated Leeward by 76 runs

Batting first Sri Lanka ended on 209 for 7 from their allotted 20 overs in the second game of the night Former USA National Representative and current USACA Regional Representative Nasir Javed and Nareed Ahamed  shared a first wicket partnership of 101 with Ahamed hitting 58 with 3 fours and 5 sixes, while Javed scored a delightful 50 with 7 fours. Other useful contributions came from Syed Hassan who slammed an entertaining innings of 41 with 6 fours and 2 sixes, Mohamed Mahazar 20 and Ken Singh 15.

Bowling for the Leeward Islands, Everton Mapp took 2 for 38, Trevor Garney 1 for 12, Steven Lewis 1 for 33 and Boswell Jeffers 1 for 48.

In reply, the Leeward’s batsmen succumbed to the swing and accuracy of Ken Singh 4 for 20 and Sadik Haque 3 for 17. Batting for Leeward, Steven Lewis slammed 54 with 5 fours and 4 sixes, while Boswell Jeffers contributed a cameo 27 with 2 fours and 1 six.
