Jamaica added the Pan American Men's 100 meters title to its list of international victories, when Commonwealth Champion Lerone Clarke captured the event in 10.01 seconds. Clarke defeated the IAAF World Championship bronze medalist and favorite Kim Collins of St. Kitts and Nevis, who ran 10.04 seconds, and Trinidad and Tobago's Emmanuel Callender was third at 10.16 seconds.

Since the success of the Jamaican Olympic track and field team in Beijing, 2008, Team Jamaica now holds the Olympic, World, World Youth, World Junior, Commonwealth, Youth Olympics and Pan American track and field titles.
