Sir Beckles sees the new program as "the next frontier" for the University, taking advance of the country's free, island-wide Wi-Fi access, which was launched last year. "We will have another body of students who are online and, I suspect, [in] another ten years we will have as many online students registered at Cave Hill as those who physically come here," said Sir Beckles. The new program, Sir Beckles argues, is the University's central effort to raise the average level of education in Barbados by educating on university graduate per household. 'Looking at this century going forward, it will be each country for itself," said Sir Beckles. "Therefore, every household going forward is going to have to be a knowledge-based household...we have 110 000 households and we believe that we can complete this process."
