The Supplier Diversity and Outreach Program of Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) will be hosting the annual Minority and Women Business Expo 2012 on Thursday, August 2, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Piper High School in Sunrise. This free event will provide crucial information to local businesses on how to work with the BCPS.

This year's expo includes roundtable discussions with representatives from Broward County Government, Broward County Aviation Department, City of Lauderhill Purchasing Department and Florida Department of Transportation, on topics such as marketing your business effectively and qualifying your business as a vendor. Participants will discover contracting opportunities available particularly for minority and women-owned businesses and learn how to work with these government agencies and with the School District.

Vendors also have an opportunity to showcase their products and services during the expo. Space is limited and will be available on a first-come first-serve basis.

The event is just part of the County's efforts to encourage local small businesses and new business leadership. The School Board of Broward County is one of the largest businesses in Broward County and Florida, The School District alone caters to 258,000 students and approximately 150,000 adult students in 234 schools and education centers, and 76 charter schools.

For additional information, including registration, advertising and sponsorship, visit online at their website or contact Marcy Houser, Supplier Diversity and Outreach Program at 754-321-0550.
