Florida's celebrations for Haitian Heritage Month are almost at an end. Have you joined in on the festivities celebration all things Haitian-American? It's not too late. Check out the following events from May 20 to 26.

Miami-Dade

Wednesday, May 23

Stories from Haiti/Contes d'Haiti

Every Wednesday in May, the North Miami Public Library will host "Stories from Haiti," from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Call 305-891-5535 for more information.

HHM Cultural Heritage Festival

The Haitian Heritage Museum (HHM), in conjunction with WJ Bryan Elementary in North Miami, is hosting the Cultural Heritage Festival from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the WJ Bryan school campus. This year's festival will showcase visual art pieces done throughout the school year by WJ Bryant students. Multi cultural community organizer, Connecting Cultures, will also be on hand to create a Lego replica of the HHM's book project, "Through the eyes of my Haitian friend." North Miami Haitian Heritage Month Closing Festivities

The City of North Miami closes their celebrations of Haitian Heritage Month with a grand finale, starting 11:30 a.m. at the North Miami City Hall. Haitian-American Mayor Joseph Champagne of Ocean County, New Jersey, will be honored with the Key of the City. Call 305-895-9815 for details.

HHM and Bel Ti Fi "Performing Hearts"

The Haitian Heritage Museum (HHM) in Miami, in association with women empowerment group Bel Ti Fi, will host their annual fundraiser "Performing Hearts" at the Manuel Artime Theater in Miami, from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. This family event will feature live performances by South Florida dance companies and the crowning of Ms. Bel Ti Fi. Haitian Heritage essay winner reception

A reception will be held in honor of the winners of the 2012 Haitian Heritage Month essay competition from the Palm Beach County School Board. This event will be held at the Okeechobee Boulevard Library from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Call 561-233-1880 for details.

Celebrate Life with Hope Festival

The second annual Celebrate Life with Hope Festival will be held at the historic Loading Ramp in Belle Glade, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. This year's event will feature live music, great food, several cultural presentations, games, as well as information booths from community outreach organizations.
