Haitian Heritage_MonthMay is almost here, and South Florida will gather to celebrate Haitian heritage in honor of Haitian Heritage Month. Keep track of your favorite festivities for the first week below.

"History since 1804: The Richness of Haiti" exhibit launch

The city of North Miami, in partnership with the Haitian Heritage Museum, presents "History since 1804: The Richness of Haiti" exhibit. The exhibit will be displayed at the City of North Miami City Hall at 776 NE 125th Street, North Miami, FL. Call 305-895-9815 for details.

City of North Miami kick-off celebrations

The City of North Miami will launch its month-long celebrations with a kick-off ceremony at the North Miami City Hall, Council Chambers, at 11:30 a.m. Dr. Larry Pierre, Executive Director of the Center for Haitian Studies and long-time health advocate in the community, will also be inducted into the North Miami Citizens Hall of Fame. Stories from Haiti/Contes d'Haiti

Every Wednesday in May, the North Miami Public Library will host "Stories from Haiti, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Call 305-891-5535 for more information.

Haitian Heritage Museum Month of May kick-off

The Haitian Heritage Museum launches their Month of May celebrations with "A Family Affair" – an evening with author and poet Yanatha Desouvre and blues musician Jael Auguste. "A Family Affair" will be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Haitian Heritage Museum, 4141 NE 2nd Avenue, Suite 105C, Miami, FL. Call (305) 371-5988 for more information.

WPB Haitian Heritage Month opening ceremony

The Palm Beach County Haitian Heritage Month Celebration Planning Committee will launch their month-long celebrations with an opening ceremony and reception, featuring performance by artists Jean Michel Daudier and Leila St. Jean. "Terre De Feu" film screening and panel discussion

The Palm Beach County Haitian Heritage Month Celebration Planning Committee will host a screening and panel discussion for the film Terre De Feu.
