With culinary competitions among the most popular events in America, Lauderhill Regional Chamber of Commerce is hosting an intense cooking competition among students from three top culinary schools in South Florida. Aspiring chefs from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Le Cordon Bleu, and J.P. Taravella High School will showcase their Latin American and Caribbean flavored dishes to impress a panel of judges and more than 1,000 guests in competition for a $500 prize and trophy. 8th Annual International Business EXPO and Culinary Competition 2011 will be held Thursday, October 6 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Inverrary Resort Hotel. The contestants' dishes will consist of an appetizer, salad, and entrée. The International Culinary School at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale will be headed by John G. Kane, Director of Culinary. Le Cordon Bleu will be headed by Mike Mitchell, Director of Culinary. J.P. Taravella will be headed by Scott Goodman, Prostart & Hospitality Instructor. Independent Chef and cooking instructor, Michelle Jones is organizing the competition along with event producers, Unique Productions. "This should be a fun and flavor filled event that will tie into the 8th International Business Expo theme centered on Latin America and the Caribbean," says Chef Michelle Jones, who is organizing the competition. This event is free and open to the public, which will also offer attendees complimentary coupons and samples.
