Peter London_dance_troupeNorth Miami-based dance troupe, the Peter London Global Dance Theater (PLGDT) celebrates the season with its annual Spring Dance showcase on Saturday, May 5 at 7 p.m., at the Little Haiti Cultural Center.

This year's Spring Dance showcase promises to be extra special with the addition of new work by globally renowned dancer Jamar Roberts. A former student of Peter London and a veteran of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Roberts will debut two of his newly choreographed works.

In addition to their new show, the PLGDT is also celebrating their recent grant award from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. The PLGDT has received a grant of $120,000 over the next two years. The new award will do much to propel the theater's mission to promote and celebrate South Florida's rich multicultural heritage through the arts.

The world renowned troupe was founded by Trinidadian-born dancer and choreographer Peter London. Inspired both by his traditional African dance and ballet training in Trinidad, London made his unique mark as a former principal dancer with the legendary Martha Graham Dance Company. A graduate of the Julliard School of Dance, Peter London is currently a professor of dance at The Miami-Dade College/ New World School of the Arts, Miami, Florida.

The Spring Showcase is open to the public and tickets can be purchased online at http://springshowcaseplgdt.eventbrite.com through May 5.
