“Midnight at Puss Creek” promised a bellyful of laughs and it did not disappoint. Patrons in the packed house at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts in Coral Springs were in stitches for the better part of the two-hour performance. The twists and turns in trying to solve the mystery at Puss Creek, as to who killed Claff Rogers and Zelda, kept the audience in suspense until the very end.

The plot revolves around Zelda Matalon, the wealthy lady who is on her death bed, and the four persons who are trying to make sure they cash in on her will. Edgar Smith (Oliver Samuels) who is Zelda’s son thinks he is most deserving of his mother’s fortune, but has to share with his niece Rita (Sharee McDonald-Russell), the caretaker Della (Camille Davis), and Zelda’s much younger husband Claff Rogers (Glen “Titus” Campbell). When they all gather at Puss Creek to mourn for Zelda, who is dying, the fighting begins, as they are all trying to kill each other, to lessen the number of persons to share the fortune.

The play kicks off with detective Inspector Tracey and Corporal Tek-Bribe at Puss Creek trying to solve the murder of Claff Rogers and Zelda. It was then brought back a few days earlier when Edgar Smith, Claff Rogers, Della Darling and Rita Valentine gathered at Puss Creek ( so named for the 40 “puss” that live there) to mourn Zelda.
