Writer and director, Cess Silvera, confirmed Mavado's involvement in the popular Jamaican film's return to the silver screen, tweeting that "Mavado and Shottas 2 is a lethal combination," after Mavado's first day of filming. No details have been announced about Mavado's character in the film. Silvera confirmed however that the sequel will see the return of stars Ky-Mani Marley, Carlton 'Spragga Benz' Grant and Munair Zacca. The first film, Shottas, was a 2002 crime film following the rise and fall of two Jamaican men in the extensive Jamaican crime world, from Kingston, Jamaica to Miami, Florida. The film was officially released in the U.S. in 2006 by Triumph Films and Destination Films. The movie however long won a cult following before its official release, thanks to the popular circulation of bootleg versions. No announcements have yet been made about the distribution plans for the next installment.
