According to promoter Luther Mack, the event, slated for Saturday, May 22, 2010 at The Grand Ballroom of Sunrise, “Reggae music expresses every emotion of the Jamaican people. The foundation of this music is deeply rooted in Slave Chants, Mento, Ska, Rock Steady, Rhythm & Blues, Country, and even Rock and Roll.” Foundation Splash is moving beyond the branches of Dancehall and taking patrons to the roots of Reggae. “It was Bunny Wailer that once said “Reggae is like a tree with many branches”, from lovers’ rock to dancehall this is the music of the people, by the people and for the people of the world.” Foundation Splash 2010 continues the tradition of the Jamaica Vintage Music Festival with a lineup that defines the journey of our music. “When we speak of Vintage Music, most folks associate that with something old. A vintage wine is a Superior wine, aged with quality. And so, Vintage music is also superior and aged with quality.” He added that while some music are ‘just old music, others earn the title vintage based on their ability to stand to test of time. “I like to refer to Taurus Riley’s “She’s Royal” [as vintage since] we will be singing that one for years.” In fact, the line-up tells that the quality of music should please fans with veteran reggae artiste, Freddie McGregor; conscious crooner, Mikey Spice; the comedic, Professor Nuts; Kashief Lindo, Pat Kelly Sister Carol, Lady G, JREvan, King Banton, Ras Baba, Code Red Band, Millennium Band and others.
