As fallen stars Michael Jackson and Britney Spears try to shine, the future is already looking bright for the pop tart, but things look uncertain for the King of Pop.

Arguably the biggest star in our lifetime, barring none, Michael Jackson thrilled the world with Thriller and appealed to our better angels with Man In The Mirror and a myriad of songs from his days with the Jackson Five, to some of his later albums. Michael Jackson had the world moon walking and audiences worldwide enthralled by what can only be called his groundbreaking music, dance and performances in general, that may never be bested in our time.

Spears wowed the world, to a lesser extent than the gloved one, but is a fascinating entertainer in her own right. When Spears, a child performer and teen star, started out with Baby One More Time she was an instant hit, topping charts, and later cashing in on tunes like Stronger and Toxic, creating an enviable throng of devoted fans (remember the YouTube ‘Leave Britney Alone’ guy?).

But like many fallen stars, the getting up and polishing the shine may not be easy especially when you’ve passed your prime. At 27, Britney Spears is still young, she’s gotten back into excellent shape and is well on her way to regaining her status with her new album Circus and a first tour since her well publicized meltdown.

Michael Jackson, on the other hand, may not recover. At 50, he is older, and while he is a living legend, his last few attempts of a comeback paled in comparison to his former glory. You Rock My World, released in 2001, did not compare to his earlier hits but like Spears, his public controversies, from his apparent addiction to cosmetic surgeries to his weird quirks and child molestation lawsuits (all of which ended in acquittals) have sullied him in the eyes of some of his once loyal fans.

Launching from London
Jackson is now about to launch what is being touted as the “mother of all comebacks” with a string of concert dates, which he and others are hoping will not only put him back into the action in entertainment, but will earn enough money to settle some of his massive debts.

Jackson is slated to kick off his concert at London’s O2 Arena and is expected to be performing for 30 dates. The arena houses up to 20,000 people, and despite Jackson’s often erratic and eccentric behavior, loyal fans may still take the opportunity to see the king’s return, since his last major tour, the HIStory World Tour in 1996-1997.

Once one of the most profitable entertainers, Jackson has had to sell much of his belongings to cover debts he has accrued over the years. This may be his last chance to shine, so despite rumors of having health issues, Michael Jackson might just hit this one out of the park. Fans are waiting!

The Ring Leader
Britney, as her song Circus says, has always liked being the center of attention, though her recent erratic behavior didn’t get her the attention she wanted. Now definitely making a real comeback, the sexy pop star (we can start calling her that again) kicked off her first concert tour in five years, which she launched from her home state of home state of Louisiana at the New Orleans Arena.

Luckily, in this circus, she was no longer the clown, but the ring leader calling the shots and giving fans the Britney they know and love.
