After countless cancellations to perform on shows in the United States, Jamaican artiste Luciano has finally secured his visa and work permit and will perform at the Budweiser One Love Nutrifest concert, February 18, at the Grand Central Park in Downtown Miami.
Luciano has been plagued with legal battles preventing him from returning to the U.S. In 2009, the "Lord Give Me Strength" singer was charged by Jamaican police, after which his visa was cancelled. The charges were dropped in 2011 and now the "Messenger" returns to Miami for his inaugural performance.
Grand Central Park, the newly landscaped grounds of the old Miami Arena, will come alive with celebration and magnetic energy of the One Love Nutrifest concert. Concert organizers Rockaz MVMT (Rockers Movement), hope to use music and art to battle hunger, poverty, and injustice with love, rhythm and good vibrations.
The Budweiser One Love Nutrifest promises a unique experience, with rub-a-dub group the Easy Star All-Stars, the jazz-infused roots mix of Puerto Rican legends Cultura Profetica, and the revolutionary love anthems of Chilean group Gondwana and Jahfe.
The melodic one drop beauty of St. Croix roots reggae group Midnite and the lyrical sculptures of Ephniko will definitely keep the audience begging for more. Topping the night's festivities of peace and love will be a message of hope and patience from the "Messenger" himself, Luciano.

Popular music icon, Don Cornelius,75, founder, host and producer of "Soul Train" the popular syndicated music/dance television show from 1971 to 1993 was found dead, from an alleged self-inflicted bullet wound to the head at his home in Los Angeles on Wednesday morning.
Soul Train aired mainly on Saturdays on television networks and stations across America, launched or promoted the careers of several top American Black music artists like Gladys Knight and the Pips, James Brown, the O-Jays and Aretha Franklyn. On Saturday mornings the lovers, young and old, of popular music and the latest dance craze, made sure to find a television to see what artist appeared on the show, and to learn the latest dance moves.
Cornelius was famous for his extremely deep baritone voice, and the popular phrase, with which he closed the weekly televised show, "...and as always, we wish you love, peace and sooooul!"
In 1987 he launched the "Soul Train Music Awards" which still remains popular, and is aired annually by Black Entertainment Television (BET). He also launched the "Lady of Soul Music Awards" in 1995.
Cornelius had a star in his honor placed on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame, for his contribution to American entertainment and popular music.
The Los Angeles coroner is investigating Cornelius' death, but the initial report is that it was suicide. |
