Dear Editor, Sir, Discriminating against immigrants I don’t know if you or your readers are aware of how much damage the immigration controversy is causing. It is like there is a new form of discrimination. The other day, my two daughters and I went to the movies. It was very crowded, as the movie had opened that same day. While in the slow moving line a white couple was behind us, complaining about the crowd. Their reasoning was, “It is all these immigrants that create this crowd.” A few days later, some co-workers ad myself were at lunch at a restaurant in Miami. While we eat we observed two men who came in the restaurant. They looked around, made a face and remarked that they had to leave the restaurant because too many immigrants were eating there. I have lived in this country for over twenty years and have never heard this type of open discrimination against immigrants. This is so sad, because immigrants built America. Now because of politics immigrants are being scorned. Madge Alexis, Kendall
The Editor, Bad MarinesI could not believe what I saw on TV yesterday. On the evening news I saw Marines breaking into the homes of Iraqi civilians and shooting them in cold blood. One little girl only survived because she hid under a bed. Where is America’s image going. Is the new image that of murders. If the investigations turn out that what we saw on the TV news is really unprovoked killings then America is going to lose respect all over the world, and the Bush administration will be forever infamous.
