Brazilian Zinho joins Jamaicans Lowe and Fraser at Miami FC PDF Print E-mail

www.cnweeklynews.com - ZinhoBrazilian 1994 World Cup winning midfielder Zinho is joining Jamaicans Onandi Lowe and Sean Fraser as international players on the Miami FC roster for the forthcoming United Soccer League (USL) season.

Miami FC, the new Brazilian-backed USL franchise, staged a launching press conference Tuesday that declared Zinho as a big signing for the USL's debut season.

The 38-year-old Zinho was a regular starter for Brazil in the 1994 World Cup alongside Romario, Bebeto and Dunga when Brazil broke a 24-year drought of World Cup title success and beat defending champions Germany in the final.

Five Brazilian championships, and one Copa Libertadores title highlights his resume and he has played for Palmeiras, Cruzeiro and Flamengo.

Zinho is one of five players on the Miami FC roster, with international experience.

The others are Jamaicans Lowe and Fraser, Mario Rodriguez, of Guatemala, and Haiti's star defender Stephane Guillaume.

The team also includes players from Bolivia, Mexico, Colombia, Honduras, Cuba and the United States.

Miami FC's inaugural season opens April 23 at Tropical Park against the Montreal Impact.

They will tackle Caribbean Club Champions Portmore United FC, of Jamaica, on April 16 at Tropical Park after they complete a three-week training stint in Brazil starting later this week.
