Despite rumors that have been swirling around for the past couple of days, International Reggae superstar Sean Paul’s management team denies that the star has been arrested in Sweden.

According to several reports on the internet, Sean Paul was arrested on ganja charges after a backstage raid at the Upsalla Concert where he was slated to perform recently.

His camp is saying that he was just a part of a random check by local police who were carrying out a campaign to clamp down on the rampant marijuana use among patrons and at times performers at the Upsalla Reggae concert.

Unlike its southern neighbor, Amsterdam, where marijuana laws are somewhat lax, Sweden is strict about its use.

According to Sean Paul’s camp, he was among a number of other artistes, production team members and fans that were rounded up and questioned during the raid. The group was detained, and released a few hours later. The artistes’ hotel room and personal effects were searched without a warrant, sources say.

However, Sean Paul is continuing his European tour and is slated for a performance at this year’s Champions In Action this Saturday in Portmore, Jamaica.
