MONTE CARLO - Usain Bolt’s stunning 9.72 seconds performance, which set a new World record in the men’s 100 meters on May 31, was ratified by the IAAF on Monday.

In all, the IAAF ratified three world record performances, which also saw Cuba’s Dayron Robles 110 meters hurdles mark going into the books along with Ethiopia’s Dire Tune’s new mark in the one hour.

Running only his fourth 100 meters this season and what then was the fifth in his career, Bolt destroyed a talented 100m field at the Reebok Grand Prix in New York City, to erase the previous record of 9.74 held by compatriot Asafa Powell.

In all this year, Bolt has run five times under 10-seconds and four of the ten fastest.

In fact, the 21-year-old has dominated both the 100m and 200m this season. He has only one defeat from his nine starts in both events, with his only loss coming to Powell in close race in Stockholm, on July 22.

In addition to his world record run in the 100m, Bolt has also produced a sizzling 19.67seconds, the fastest time by a long way in the 200m this campaign. The mark is the fifth fastest off all-time and the fastest by a Jamaican and Caribbean athlete.

Robles also heads to Beijing with more bragging rights over his rivals as his 110m hurdles record of 12.87seconds, set in Ostrava, Czech Republic on June 12, was approved by the sport’s governing body.

Robles’ run improved the two-year-old mark of 12.88 seconds, set by China’s Liu Xiang in Lausanne, Switzerland in July 2006.

The IAAF also ratified three women’s World Junior records as the 800 meters record set by Kenya’s teenage sensation Pamela Jelimo (1:55.76 and 1:54.99) and the Ukraine’s Vira Rebryk javelin throw mark of 63.01 meters, were also confirmed.
