Mr. Ben Sennik, President of Canada Cricket Association, is pleased to announce that the Canadian All-Star Cricket Team will participate at the MAQ T20 International Cricket Tournament '08. The following is Mr. Sennik's statement:
Cricket Council USA has invited us to participate in the MAQ T20 Cricket Tournament and music extravaganza that will be held at the Cricket Stadium located at the Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill, Florida during the Memorial Day Weekend ( May 23, 24, 25, 2008 ). We were told that they had invited All-Star teams from West Indies, Pakistan and World XI Team compromising of players from India, Australia, Ireland, Scotland, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.
CCUSA, a professional Cricket and Sports Management Organization, is committed to promoting 20/20 Cricket in North America which is consistent with the Canadian Cricket's conviction as well.
I visited CCUSA's headquarters in Boca Raton, Florida recently. I must confess my total amazement at the size of the organization and their total commitment in supporting the 20/20 format. Their promotion and development of their dream was the "BUZZ" word around. CCUSA is under the strong financial backing of Mr. Mahammad "MAQ" Qureshi, Chairman & CEO of CCUSA.
MAQ, the founder of the MAQ GROUP, a conglomerate of a very successful group of companies within the United States, Canada and other parts of the world, is a passionate Cricket fan and player.
Canada Cricket Association has committed to send a Canadian All-Star Cricket Team to the Tournament. We are delighted to be participating in this first MAQ T20 Tournament. We believe the Cricket Stadium at the Central Broward Regional Park could be the Mecca of Cricket in North America. Propelled with the support Mr. Qureshi, I believe CCUSA is embarking on a commercially do-able business plan. The T20 concept is tailor made for North America. Cricket Canada will make endeavors toward building a commercially and financially viable partnership with CCUSA.
