Pakistan last Saturday made little work of the Leeward Islands by recording an 87 runs victory in their
quest for the Goldson Spine Rehabilitation Trophy as the Lauderhill
International Cricket competition continued at the Lauderhill Sports Complex.
Pakistan batting first amassed a total of
196 runs for the loss of five wickets in their allotted 20 overs, due to some
formidable batting from Irfan Hassan and Mudd Waqar who scored 54 and 48 runs
respectively. Hassan hit 6 fours and 2 sixes and Waqar 2 four and 3 sixes
against the bowling attack of the Leeward Islands
led by Nathaniel Phillips three for 32 and Samuel Plummer 2 for 36.
Meanwhile
Leeward in their turn at the crease were skittled out 109 runs with some
effective bowling from Via Khan three for 18 and Rizwan Ahmad three for 19 for
Pakistan. Only Delroy Thomas 35 and O’Neil Walker 17 runs, offered any
resistance for the Leeward.
In an
abbreviated game two, Lauderhill emerged as
winners over a slow scoring Barbados
via run rate as the former scored 156 runs in 16 overs to Barbados 86 in
12 overs.
