Galaxy FC surged to the top of the tables in the 2008 Caribbean American Soccer Association (CASA) Super League last Saturday when they knocked off BC United FC to take sole position of first place, in the second game of a double header played at the Lauderhill Sports Complex.

Galaxy new comers to the league have been playing inspiring soccer which they took into the game on Saturday matching the intensity of BC United from the opening whistle. The two teams continued to duel with some crowd pleasing soccer in an evenly contested game. Things change when Galaxy was awarded a penalty midway through the first half which Chris Spence scored to put them ahead 1-0. BC United would then mount several attacks in an effort to equalize but the poise Galaxy team kept them at bay and maintained the 1-0 lead into the half time.

In the second half both teams came out aggressively trying to out maneuver each other which produced good opportunities but neither of them was able to capitalize. Galaxy blew chances to increase their lead while BC United squandered theirs for the equalizer resulting in a 1-0 lead for the former. The win puts Galaxy on top of the league now with 9 points, while BC United remains on 7.

In the first game of the double header, Athletico took on Juventus in a game that went back and forth with the run of play. Atheletico, who came out earlier on the more attacking team, took an early 2-0 lead with goals from Elonigue Elisee and Charles Alerte as they penetrated the Juventus defensive. They would manage to hold this lead into the interval.

However, in the second half Athletico came out seeming to be contented with their 2-0 lead as they played a more defensive brand of ball which resulted in Everton Brown pulling a goal back early for Juventus to make it interesting. But it was short-lived, as within seconds of the restart Athletico added a third goal through Charles Alerte, his second of the night to pull ahead 3-1. The two teams then went back and fourth with each other and it was Juventus through Ray Graham that scored a second goal to make for a thrilling finish. But it wasn't enough. Final score Athletico 3-2 Juventus.

On Wednesday, Fort Lauderdale Blazers turned in a stunning performance when they came from behind to draw with the Lauderhill Lions 2-2 after trailing two to nothing at the end of the first half.
