The Rock the World Concert decided to rock Spragga Benz’s pocket? According to the promoters, Pulse Investments Limited, Spragga breached a clause in his contract when he used profanity on the stage, so they held back 25 percent of his fees. In the clause it was clearly stated that no artiste was to use any “expletive, profane or indecent language during his performance” or the will not be fully compensated. Apparently, Spragga did the opposite of that, and instead of the 50% balance that was owed to him, they only gave him half of it. The booking agents, Headline Entertainment, did not know of the promoter’s decision and promised to give a full report to the news after it has been investigated. Spragga said that he doesn’t remember the songs that he performed because when he is on stage he is in a different world. The event, which was held at the One Love Jamaica Village, in New Kingston on Sunday March 18 with other performers such as Buju Banton, Tanya Stephens, Tessanne Chin, Richie Spice, Beenie Man, Ninja Man, Shaggy and more…was an excellent production only to be marred by Spragga’s behavior. What I can’t believe is Ninja Man and Beenie Man did not use expletives. Pulse must have been real strict with this clause in their contract which is actually a Jamaican law.

SINBAD is not dead!! There was an email floating that comedian Sinbad had died of a heart attack Wednesday morning. Well, he is still alive! David Atkins, aka Sinbad turned it all into jokes after he heard the rumors of his untimely demise. Apparently, what started out as a local rumor hit the internet like wildfire that his entire family was receiving calls from a lot of comedians. In responding to the calls, Sinbad said he wished he could get calls like that normally, he probably should die more often, and he was sure the calls were coming in from people he had owed money to. The internet even had a biography and flexography of Sinbad which offended him more than the death rumor. Sinbad decide that his “death” will be a comeback as he is writing a movie, and had not made a film in 10 years. I think he now knows what they would say about him in his real death and he did not like some of the statements.

Abijah, Jamaica’s Mr. Roots himself is set to “Call the Planet”! The Internet phone company has contracted with Abijah, to be their official spokesman and for Abijah, the most lucrative deal of his career. Abijah was chosen for his role mainly from the serious love of his country and the trust he has in the product, he speaks directly to the people of Jamaica as he represents the same things the Company believes in and stands for. Abijah’s career is definitely on the correct path with this enterprising assignment and he is happy this door was opened for him. He also expressed that apart from being a privilege working with Call the Planet, he loves the idea of giving back to the people. Abijah’s jingle is already written by him and he is still working on a video in which he plans to highlight the Jamaican people. Congratulations to you Abijah!!

GOOD in the HOOD? Rapper, Ice Cube pushes a new one hour reality television series on A& E called “Good in the Hood”. In each episode, Ice Cube will introduce a different reformed gang member, drug dealer or criminal, who takes on the responsibility of rehabilitating another person with similar circumstances. The most powerful element to this show is the personal connection to the people involved in drugs or violence responding to someone who has walked that pathway. Currently, A & E television reaches over 91 million homes. The network hopes Good in the Hood will help capture a younger demographic. In a statement, Ice Cube said "this show is a way to demonstrate what is going on in a positive way in the urban community," and it’s his latest foray into reality television. This is definitely on a positive track. I wish him the best!!
