Trust God, not man Dear Editor: I can’t understand all this fuss about Mr. Foley and the young men he was trying to fool around with in the House of Representatives in Washington. If you all read and understand your Bible, you all would understand that men are weak and will always fail. The common human being will always succumb to temptations, especially temptations of the flesh. We, including me, put too much store in man. Don’t care how someone looks and sounds respectable, they are likely to fall to temptation and do something that shock and disappoint us. It gets worse when that someone rise to a position of power. Power blinds, making people believe that no one can touch them. Because of this, we shouldn’t be disappointed when those, especially the ones in high places, fail us. Let us continue to place our faith in God The Father, not man. As far as man is concerned, expect anything from them at any time, and we won’t be disappointed. Mother Fern Barclay, North Miami Beach
Higher education much too expensive Dear Editor: Give me the opportunity to write about the cost of going to college here in America. Unless a student is from a family of means, the cost is aljost prohibitive. I recently moved to Florida, and got accepted by three colleges. But, because I have not been residing in Florida for over a year I have to pay aljost three time the fees that a Florida resident pays. I am the child of a single mother, who has three other children going to school, and even with the best intention cannot afford to find the extra money to pay my fees. This situation relates to many other young people in similar situations to me. I think once it is proven that a student lives in Florida, and is not just coming here to attend college, that student should receive the benefits that long-term residents get. This should apply to every state. A college education is vital to the future careers and lives of young people. They should not be discouraged from getting this education. Although some of can get scholarships and grants, this is in the minority. Please, those in authority, help those of us who cannot afford the high tuition fees, but want to further our education.
