Wal-Mart giant more sweet than bitter Dear Sir: Yes sir. Greeting from Jah. So, the big Wal-Mart giant takes up residence in Lauderdale Lakes. I and I agree that could be bad, and that could be good. It is bittersweet as you put it. But let’s try to squeeze the sweet out of this plum. You see the big giant bound to make plenty little people in the area get work. True! Again, it’s only the giant that provides lots of goods at prices that many little people can afford. That’s a good thing. True! Now, on the next hand, the big giant is a threat to the little shops and businesses in the area. But, this can work for good as well. Instead of the little business man going to a weep and mourn party, they must come together with the help of Lauderdale Lake politicians and try to make goods that Wal-Mart will buy from them. Some people, if they are smart and not weepers and mourners, can be buyers and suppliers (to Wal-Mart) of goods from the Caribbean, True! Yes the Wal-Mart presence don’t have to be bitter at all. It can be sweet if we just learn, like the grand lady Miss Lou told us to do - “Tun we hand and mek fashion.” True! Ras Eugene, Lauderdale Lakes
Many sick…no insurance Dear Sir:
The community needs help sir. It is a whole lot of people all over Florida who are suffering because they are sick and can get no medical treatment because they have no health insurance. People who are hardly earning any income can’t even qualify for Medicaid. What is going to happen to those who are seriously sick? Don’t tell me them must come to big, big and rich America to die, because no doctor won’t see them since they have no insurance or no money. If you even go the emergency room at a hospital and you lucky for a doctor to peep on you, there is a big bill that runs into thousand of dollars that you can’t pay. This is a matter, a very big matter that we want those running to become governor or to be in the Florida government to recognize and do something. Have mercy! From me was a little girl I learn that America is the richest country in the world, so how come America cannot give medical assistance to its own people. How come? Valerie Ashley. Tampa Bay |
