Good Caribbean Newspaper

Dear Editor:

Since I have been living in Florida, I have never written a letter to a newspaper. That is because I have found very few newspapers that interest me, or truly represent me as a Caribbean newspaper. But, I must commend you and your paper for being truly representative of the Caribbean Diaspora in Florida.

I have been diligently reading the paper for the past six months and have received such a broad range of information pertaining to the Caribbean and the interest of Caribbean people here. I think I would be remiss in not writing to you to let you know the good job you are doing. It is such a great thing to pick up the paper and read about what is happening in Trinidad, Guyana, Dominica, Jamaica and all over the Caribbean. I sincerely hope the paper grows from success to success.

Dear Editor,

TV Hurricane Show

Dear Sir

What is wrong with these broadcasters on TV with all the hype when hurricane season comes around? Every time a storm even seems to be heading this direction, we are subject such full-scale storm hype. I am here at home today, as I am a teacher and schools are closed because of Tropical Storm Ernesto. All the main network channels have stopped showing their regular programs to give you this overdose of hurricane information with reporters all over the place.

I see this as information overkill. People will get so tired of all this information that they miss the real message pertaining to the strength and direction of the storm. It is like all the TV stations are competing with each other to see which one can have the best hurricane show instead of giving us the best hurricane information.

It is such a pity that that not much can be done about all this hype and fuss, but it is so sad. I just get the impression that the local NBC, ABC, CBS and FOX stations yearn badly for storms and hurricane to blow by, so that they can get their peculiar storm-realty shows on the air. Man!
