As the economy continues its downward spiral, gas prices hike, food
prices follow and our paycheck remains the same. What it means is that
we have to follow a tighter budget and one place we can do it is at the
grocery store.
There are many reasons floating around out there as to why we are
experiencing this food inflation, recorded as the worst in the US in 17
years. But, while they debate causes, we have to debate prices.
Here are some tips to help you save in the grocery store:
- Make a list and check it twice. This doesn’t only go for
Santa. Check your fridge, pantry, cupboards before you leave home. Make
a list of the things you NEED, so you don’t buy on impulse. Plan to
make one shopping trip for items that will last at least two weeks.

Caribbean islands, especially those with a high concentration of East
Indians, have a special affinity to the mighty curry. And in some
islands, curry is only associated with the spice and not with the
specific method of cooking.
In fact, some still don’t know that this method, thought to originate
in India, is the process by which meats, fish, vegetables and sometimes
fruits are prepared with a mix of spices and ground herbs to make a
stew like dish.
Curry powder, on the other hand, is combination of spices like cumin,
red pepper, cardamom, mustard seed, coriander, turmeric, saffron,
fenugreek, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. This powder has been used to
enhance so many dishes in the Caribbean and has become a staple even
among non-East Indian peoples of the Caribbean.

How to care for combination skin |

Sunday, 01 June 2008 |
If you have skin that is oily in some places and dry or normal in
others, you have been blessed (or cursed) with Combination Skin. The
oily skin is usually concentrated the T-zone – that is across the
forehead, down the nose and chin.
Since the oily areas are usually prone to blackheads and pimples,
combination skin needs special attention, so the dry or normal parts
are cared for and the oily sections kept clean to prevent breakouts.

Prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer among men in the
United States. It’s an issue that all of us need to get educated about
and take steps that lead to prevention.
Popular Nation of Islam leader, Louis Farrakhan, who endured a lengthy
surgery for prostate cancer, incorporated the issue into a weekend-long
celebration of the 12th anniversary of the Million Man March and the
Holy Day of Atonement, upon his recovery. Thousands of participants
joined Farrakhan for the kickoff celebration with the Louis Farrakhan
Prostate Cancer Foundation “Walk for Life” Walk-A-Thon.
