Imagine spending a weekend with 12 hours of the greatest rappers
performing their greatest hits in person. The Rock the Bells Festival
descended on downtown Miami’s Bayfront Park recently to bring on the
beat, old-school style. For the last five years, Rock the Bells has put
together annual concerts featuring hip-hop’s greatest legends. This
year’s event was no exception.
Patrons were hyped and hot, and it wasn’t just because of the scorching
weather. Featured artists such as De La Soul, Q-Tip, A Tribe Called
Quest, Wale, Mos Def, Pharcyde, Dead Prez and many others kept the
temperature rising. One of the more animated acts was the duo of Method
Man and Redman, who jumped into the crowd to greet their fans. They
also paid tribute to their friend, the late Old Dirty Bastard.

Despite rumors that have been swirling around for the past couple of
days, International Reggae superstar Sean Paul’s management team denies
that the star has been arrested in Sweden.
According to several reports on the internet, Sean Paul was arrested on
ganja charges after a backstage raid at the Upsalla Concert where he
was slated to perform recently.
His camp is saying that he was just a part of a random check by local
police who were carrying out a campaign to clamp down on the rampant
marijuana use among patrons and at times performers at the Upsalla
Reggae concert.

When songbird Whitney Houston fell out of the music business, it came
as a blow to her fans the world over. But fans may be in for a treat if
her new song with Akon Like I Never Left, is a taste of what her new
album will be bringing.
The vocal powerhouse has more work to do to get her voice back to where
it was, but this is encouraging news to the fans who have been waiting
to hear her voice again.
While the details of her upcoming album are sketchy and we’re not sure
whether the song, which was leaked, would be the first single, it is
certainly a good progress for her extended hiatus.
