Ricky appealing positive drug test |

Reports are that troubled running back Ricky Williams is appealing a positive drug test that could force the Miami Dolphins star to sit out the 2006 season. If the positive test result is upheld, it would be Williams' fourth violation of the NFL's substance-abuse policy, meaning at least a one-year suspension. Previous positive tests were for marijuana, which Williams acknowledged using. But the latest test involved a drug other than marijuana, according to publish reports. A ruling on the appeal isn't expected until April. Williams, reportedly is in India studying yoga and holistic medicine. |

 Jamaican sprinter Veronica Campbell clocked the second-fastest time in the world this year in the 200 meters and Lacena Golding-Clarke continued her domination of the 60 meters hurdles, as both athletes had successful outings at the Norwich Union Indoor Grand Prix last Saturday.
The 23-year old Campbell, the reigning Olympic 200 meters champion, captured that event in a season-best time of 22.84 seconds ahead of compatriot Peta-Gaye Dowdie who was second in 23.02 seconds. Britain's Christine Ohuruogu finished third in 23.74 seconds.
It was the first appearance this season in the 200 meters for Campbell who has dominated the 60 meters dash and currently holds the world-leading time in that event. |

FIFA finds T&T's Warner guilty |

FIFA vice president Austin Jack Warner said he has asked the FIFA Ethics and Fair Play Committee to refer his controversial ticketing sale matter to FIFA's Executive Committee at its next meeting scheduled for March 16-17.
He explained that on January 18, he wrote to the FIFA General Secretary and asked him to refer the conduct of sale and distribution of FIFA World Cup tickets to the Ethics Committee "and or the FIFA Executive committee in an effort at total transparency" to determine whether he had breached any ethical actions.
"I do wish to reiterate that the above initiative was taken by me," Warner said. |

Too much Dhillon for the Leewards |

With a stunning performance of 128 runs and four wickets for 17 runs by Mandeep Dhillon India made short work of the Leeward Islands, in their 2006 City of Lauderhill Mayors Cup cricket contest played at the City of Lauderhill Sports complex last Saturday. Batting first India was able to amass a total of 228 runs for the loss of eight wickets as Dhillon showcased his talent with 9 fours and 11 sixes to propel his team. In fact only Akshan Mohan with 19 made any other tally of significance. Delroy Thomas had two for 29 and Winston Miller for 49 bowling for the Leewards. |

Tucker and King take Bermuda 2005 sports awards |

History-making achievements weighed heavily in the choices made at last weekend's Bermuda Sports Awards function for 2005 and cricketer Janeiro Tucker and young track and field star Arantxa King copped the main prizes.
Bermuda qualified for the 2007 World Cup in the Caribbean next year and Tucker, whose solid allround performance helped them achieve their first World Cup qualification, is the Sportsman of the Year.
The remarkable teenager King, who won the long jump title and became her country's first ever gold medallist at the World Youth Championship in Morocco, took the Sportswoman of the Year crown at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess.
Tucker, who is currently the Bermuda captain in the absence of injured skipper Clay Smith, played 12 limited over internationals during the year, amassing 439 runs at an average of 39. |
