REGGAE BOYZ LACKING RHYTHMN |

As the Jamaica National Football Team embarks on its 2010 World Cup
qualifying campaign to make it to the ‘promise land’, fans are
beginning to question the capability of the Reggae Boyz’ ability to
qualify for the big dance in South Africa.
To some the team has been performing inconsistently over their recent
encounters, most notably drawing 1-1 with Trinidad and losing 1-2 to a
much lower ranked team, Grenada, as they prepare themselves to battle
The Bahamas in a World Cup Qualifier on Sunday, June 15 ‘at the Office’.
The embarrassing lost to Grenada, have many questioning the mindset of
coach Rene Simoes for maintaining players such as Ian Goodison, Andy
Williams, Deon Burton and Donovan Ricketts - members of the 10 year old
successful World Cup campaign, playing important starting positions. He
is also using Ricardo Fuller in a prominent role on the frontlines
ahead of recognized strikers, Marlon King and Luton Shelton – a move
that is mystifying a section of the fan base.

Will Western go all the way? |

Sunday, 01 June 2008 |
The Caribbean American Soccer Association (CASA) Super League will put
a wrap on their 2008 season this Saturday, when the highly fancied
Unity FC will take on Western FC at the Lauderhill Sports Complex in
Lauderhill.
Unity FC made it though to the finals with a stunning 5-0 victory over
second seed B.C. United in their semi-finals encounter, while Western
FC, surprisingly beat the number 1 seed and two-time Champions Ft.
Lauderdale Blazers in a much tighter contest.
Unity will be favored in the contest, but Western who had a slow start
to the season should not be taken lightly because although they were
amongst the last to qualify for the playoffs they have shown good form
in their two games played. Western has shown that they are capable of
doing what it takes to win as indicated in their last game against the
mighty Ft. Lauderdale Blazers.

Jamaica, Pakistan in showdown |

|
Sunday, 01 June 2008 |
It will be a big showdown this Saturday at the Lauderhill Sports Complex when the hard hitting Jamaica and Pakistan do battle for the Goldson Spine Rehabilitation Trophy in the finals of Lauderhill International Cricket competition.
Pakistan, who won the competition last year, amassed 197 runs in their semi-final encounter against Sri Lanka will seek to put away the Jamaicans who piled up 215 runs against Lauderhill. The game is expected to be a slug fest although both teams’ bowling attack will look to play a major role. In fact, the way both teams play the game will likely come down to the team which produces the better bowling.
Jamaica’s Mark Johnson, who made the first century of the season with a mammoth 106 runs which included 13 fours and 4 sixes against Lauderhill, is expected to play a role in their batting. He will be assisted by openers Shawn Beckford and Ken Wright, along with Renardo Francis and Damion Wellington who scored 54 runs in the semies.
However Pakistan also posseses a balance line up with the likes of Maiuddin Alimaui and Shane Ford, who scored 64 and 37 runs in the semi-final. Openers Mahammad Quershi and Irfan Hassan along with Mudassar Waquar are expected to play a role.
