Miami-Dade

Meet the Author: Alexandra Bardot

Writer and children's author Alexandra Bardot will read from her popular children's book, Mommy Tell Me about Haiti, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the North Miami Public Library. There will also be a presentation of the documentary on the history behind the Haitian Memorial Monument in Savannah, Georgia. For more information, call 305-891-5535.

Stories from Haiti/Contes d'Haiti

Every Wednesday in May, the North Miami Public Library will host "Stories from Haiti," from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Call 305-891-5535 for more information.

2012 Haitian Flag Day Celebration

Presented by the city of North Miami and the North Miami Adult Education Center, the 2012 Haitian Flag Day celebration will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the MOCA Plaza in North Miami. The event includes a talent showcase by students from the North Miami Adult Education Center and live music by popular band, Kréyol-la. Call 305-895-9815 for details.

Big Night in Little Haiti

Big Night in Little Haiti concert series will celebrate its biggest event of the year, featuring Samba Zao, at the Little Haiti Cultural Center in Miami, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Saturday, May 19

North Miami Library presents "Fatimadance"

The Children's African Dance Company will present a folkloric dance performance celebrating the heroes of Haiti, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the North Miami Public Library. Call 305-891-5535 for more information.

Haitian Heritage Month History Bee

North Miami Senior High School will host the first annual Haitian Heritage Month History Bee from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Students will be tested on their history knowledge and compete for prizes. For more information, call 305-756-8050.

Haitian Compas Festival

Miami will celebrate the 14th annual Haitian Compas Festival at Bayfront Park Amphitheater in downtown Miami. This year's show will honor the legendary band Tropicana, feature performances by Harmonik, CaRiMi, Djakout, Kreyol La, Nu Look, Gabel and DISIP.

West Palm Beach

Haiti History and Culture Presentation

Flag Raising Ceremony
