Usain-Bolt-draped-in-the--001Dear Editor,

This is to say thank you for your editorial ["The color of independence"] in your April 26 to May 2, 2012 issue. I do hope many other Jamaicans have read it. It is very informative and inspiring.

The omission of a color from our national flag speaks to a lack of knowledge of the meaning of these colors. We have almost completed 50 years of national building, during which time we should have been learning all it takes to be a nation.

Letter from new South Florida resident PDF Print E-mail

The Editor,
National Weekly

Dear Dr, Garth Rose,

I must congratulate you and your team for a superb newspaper (print and online).

I am a relatively recent resident of South Florida (Lake Worth), and was introduced to your paper some two months ago, and I and my wife am very impressed with it.

As a former editor of a Maryland newspaper, I find your paper, especially your editorials, business section and food and entertainment pages very enlightening.

My wife and I who incidentally are Republicans found a recent editorial on he communications problem in the Obama administration very enlightening. We are not Obama supporters, but we are not bias against the efforts he has been making, and must agree that he has done much more in his short term to date, than most other presidents However, we certainly believe he has not handled the economy well..

But then your article on the economy, that it need a more radical approach, does fit in our economic philosophy. I certainly agree that a much more radical approach is needed to put more money into consumers hands so that they will spend more.

We also liked your editorial about the tea party movement. I hope some Republican leaders read it, because they cannot take the movement for granted,

I just want to again say how impressed we are with your paper Kindly express my appreciation to your staff as well. I will be a sure reader of your paper in the future.

Richest blessings,
Antoine and Claudette Genoa
Lake Worth, Florida

A Paper that has a heart for the little people PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 05 October 2010 17:04

Mr. Editor,
Dear Doctor,

I don’t usually write to newspapers, as I am ailing, but I have to try to let you know how crucial some of your articles were.

The article on the American dream dying in this country is very relevant. My family is also one that lost our house, and now prefers to rent. My son and his wife also gave up their house and is renting. Sir, it is important that the banks know that people don't have to take their outlandish loans, and suffer the shame when they can’t pay back the loan. Your article should open there eyes.

Then this week you wrote a article about how hard it is for some families to make ends meet. You know sir, all you read and hear about is how tough the economics is in the country, but I hardly read or hear about the problems that some of us families face to make ends meet. Oh Lord Almighty it is really hard, and we have to seek all kinds of plans to pay the bills like rent and light. In the ten things you put in your article I have used 9. Is only the pawn job me, my husband or my children have not tried. The politicians and all the rich people need to now how bad it is for some people, and you did it in this article.

Sir, this paper seems to be a paper that has a heart for the little people. We need your paper to stand up for us, who are suffering, and have to depend on politicians who all them do is tell lie, and don’t help..

Bless you, sir
Connie Reid
