In an effort to effect changes to the Code of Student Conduct, the Broward County School Board banned students in Broward public schools from bringing iPods (one of the latest technological advanced gadget that appeals to teenagers) and laptop computers to school. One Board member, Bob Parks, said the school district had invested greatly in technology so that students already have access to computers at school. However, some board members said they hoped to change the policy in the future as technology and education become even more interrelated. With the ban, students who persist in brining laptops or iPods to school will have these items confiscated. The school board has also placed a ban on the wearing of fuzzy (bedroom) slippers and unhemmed clothes. Flip-flop sandals were banned for elementary and middle school students, but not for high schools.
