Dear Sir:

This is my first time writing to a newspaper. However, I feel I must comment on the immigration matter that is becoming very hot. I am glad I am not a politician having to vote on this thing because there are two strong arguments here.

On the one hand, it is not fair to those who struggled to become legal here, to have to step back and make way for those who came here illegally. Although it sounds selfish regardless of what is said they are taking away benefits from legal residents.

But on the other hand, as you have said many of these people came here to find hope, to find ways of surviving poverty and bad conditions in their own countries. This makes it sort of inhumane to send them back home.

Well, if America don’t want illegal immigrants here, what they need to do is assist the poor countries where the immigrants come from to develop projects that will improve the standard of living in those countries, so that less people will want to come here.

Many people, whether they be in America legally or illegally hate this place. Many want to return home but can’t. If America wants to stop illegal immigration it must have a policy of improving lives in poorer countries. Then people will return to their counties and less will come here.

Where’s the leisure page?

Dear Sir:

I’ve been reading your newspaper for quite some time now and although I enjoy reading the paper a lot, there is something missing from this paper. Cartoons! What happened to your cartoons? It’s not funny reading a newspaper without a leisure page.

I suggest that you add a page or two with jokes, horoscope, puzzles etc. It would make the paper more interesting.
