Alas, it cannot be denied – the problem of racism in America still rages on. Despite the anger and occasionally passionate dialogue pertaining to the arrest of Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., it was opportune that this event occurred.
For too
long, too often, especially now with a Black man in the White House, Americans
have been in denial about the problem of racism. Gates’ arrest and last week’s
explosive controversy is evidence that the racial divide in this country is as
wide as the Grand Canyon.
