Shortly after Barrack Obama’s election last November, this paper suggested that he should give priority to attending the Fifth Summit of the Americas scheduled for Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago from April 17-19. It is very heartening, especially for the Caribbean community, that the president placed the meeting with countries in the Americas (with the exception of Cuba) high on his list of priorities, despite the urgent demands of the American economy.
